Monthly Meeting Summary

Terry Yarns called the meeting to order at 7:10 PM, with approximately 14 attendees.
A summary of the September meeting was presented by Secretary Don B. No additions or corrections. Motion approved/carried by Harold P/Ann S.
Treasurer’s Report: was not presented as Treasurer Elaine F was unable to attend. Balance of $3,318.42 on Dec 12.
Secretary Report of the previous month’s minutes was presented by Don Breuker, Secretary. Motion approved and accepted. Pat K/Karen S.
ITEMS OF BUSINESS AND DISCUSSION:
Summer Sizzler 2026 Joyce Prior Memorial Summer Sizzler: Harold Prior gave a brief update. The Expo Building in Spirit Lake has been reserved for Tuesday Aug 11, 2026. Cost is $900 with $450 due at making the reservation and balance at the time of the event. Karen Sterk moved that we reserve the building for that date and pay $450. Seconded by Pat Kelly. Carried.
Democrats Care
Sunshine Meals The Sunshine Food Bags. Commendations to Mary Chambers for the article written and put into the Lakes News Shopper. We know that the DCD purchased over $100 bags and the donation amount was in excess of $1,000. DCD donated $140 toward the project. There was discussion if we should contribute more. Since we have the extra costs of the Summer Sizzler and other projects coming, feelings were to not contribute more to this project.
The Pasta Tree @ GREAT LAKES MALL-Spirit Lake FESTIVAL OF GIVING TREES Awards are for best decorated tree and most donations under the tree. The decorations made by Karen Sterk give ours a unique look along with the other items used for decorations. A lot of pasta and sauce are already donated, but much more is needed. Cut off is Dec 24th.
Caucus Reminder: The County Caucus will be on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the Milford Community Center with a tentative time of 7PM.

Precincts: We have started sitting by precinct at the meetings. We need more people to attend so each precinct is represented. We then carry this to the Caucus night for voting by precinct. We need to have our Precinct Leaders in place by January.
Other Comments: A few comments about current policies and political steps. Terry provided some comments in comparison of the Reagan era to today. Some discussion on how to get more people to participate. Group informal gathering? (Wahpeton Wednesdays) A request was made for a moment of silence for the death of Rob Reiner.
