Monthly Meeting Summary
The meeting was called to order by Terry Yarns at 7:00PM with the Pledge of Allegiance. Attendance was 25. The meeting was preceded at 6:30pm by a potluck group taco meal that was enjoyed by all.
Secretary Report from the April meeting was postponed until the June meeting.
Treasurer’s Report: Motion to accept the Treasurer’s report, as presented by Kaylene Kinlen, was approved. Pat K/Marti N. Current balance of $1,945.00.
Items Shared:
Jen J. gave an update on the May Day Basket campaign. It was covered in LNS and social media. Harold P. made comments for his deliveries to the hospital which were well received.
JOYCE PRIOR MEMORIAL SUMMER SIZZLER - Tuesday, August 11. Harold Prior outlined Sizzler plans to date.
Tickets will be $40 each. Starting July 4th, tickets can be accessed through Act Blue and from specific members. The $40 covers admission and a Bbq sandwich meal. At-the-door participants who opt out of the meal will be charged $20. Tickets will be sent to chairs of surrounding counties to sell.
Doors will open at 5:00pm, meal at 6:00pm, program at 7:00pm.
Speakers are being invited. J.D. Scholten has committed. Other invitees are: Rob Sand, Mark Kelly, Pete Buttigieg and the winners of the primaries for Senate and House.
An MC for the event is being sought. Harold P. has opted to not MC. An enthusiastic suggestion for Karen S. to MC was made.
Shirt sales and other promotional items will be organized by Jen J.
Quarter page ads will be run in the LNS; organized by Mary C.
Volunteers will be recruited for Expo decorating, registrations, Sign-in, logistics, and tear down. Security will be lined up by Harold P. and John A.
A representative from the Stephanie Steiner campaign gave a presentation. She mentioned she will hold an event at the Senior Center, Wednesday, May 20, 12:30pm.
Terry Y. made the following announcements:
Thoughts regarding current Republican ads and the lies being told.
Reminded about the upcoming State Convention in Des Moines on June 13.
Encouraged everyone to vote in the June 2 primary.
