Monthly Meeting Summary

Monday, September 15, 2025, 7:00pm  -  Lakes Activity (Senior) Center, Spirit Lake

Unofficial until approved at October 20, 2025 meeting.

Harold Prior called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM., with approximately 22 attendees.

A summary of the August meeting was presented. No additions or corrections. Motion approved/carried by Pat K./John A.

Treasurer’s Report: Current balance checking account: $2,407.26. Donations since last meeting: $204.01. Motion approved. Accept report as presented; Pat K./Karen S.  

New Secretary confirmed: Don Breuker has volunteered. Motion approved; Pat K./Kaylen K.

GENERAL CONVERSATIONS:

  • Future promotional positive statements summary was provided by Kaylene K. Potentially to be used for parade banners, promotional materials, media ads. 

  • Voter registration data kept up-to-date is an ongoing challenge. Should set a goal for updated data by next spring. 

  • Rally will be held on October 18, 2025, at the Dickinson County Court House from 11:00 to 12:00. Sponsored by 50501 Movement.

  • A Meet and Greet for Dave Dawon will be held from 4-6pm Saturday Sept 20;  with remarks at 5, hosted by the Gronstals in Orleans. No cost. Donations will be accepted.

  • Report on the Democrats Booth at the Clay County Fair. Karen S commented that she put in 5 shifts, and the atmosphere was much better than in recent years. Fewer MEGA caps observed.

  • Attendance at our Meetings. We need more bodies here at our meetings. We should have at least one representative from each precinct.

  • Comments on dissatisfaction with the support from the Iowa Democratic Party. Suggestion that we reach out to more counties and call into the State office.

  • The Younger Generation. Comments were made that the younger generation, 18 – 30 are perceived to not trust either party. Need to continue finding ways to reach that age bracket.
